TREBLE CLEF

Alloa Musical Players Newsletter Summer 2011 Distributed to Members and Associates of AMP

WELCOME TO AMP’S NEW SEASON

It is hope that everyone has had a good summer break and is feeling refreshed re-invigorated and ready to go with the production of RETURN TO THE FORBIDDEN PLANET.

A NEW MD – THE SEARCH ENDS

A new MD has just been appointed and is now taking rehearsals and auditions for Return to the Forbidden Planet.

ARE YOU A BUDDING STAGE MANAGER? AMP is still looking to fill this position. If you are interested telephone 01259 721887

MEMBERS INFORMATION LEAFLET

Leona Reiter has been busy during the summer preparing an updated version of this leaflet and has been consulting the committee on its contents. She hopes to have copies available for distribution at the Open Evening.

NODA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Information is now available on theAGMat Peebles Hydro at the end of October. Joyce Stalker, Douglas Bloomer and June Kean have been to this event previously and can recommend it as an informative, entertaining and very enjoyable weekend [as the photos can prove]. Please speak toDouglasif you are interested.

FEES DUE

Fees of £50 are due at the open evening and at the first rehearsal thereafter. It is a fixed amount for everyone and arrangements can be made with Margaret Cowell the Memberships Sec. for it to be paid in instalments before Christmas. Those auditioning will have to pay £20 beforehand if they have not already paid in full.

IS A MATINEE ON THE CARDS?

There has been some discussion amongst committee members about the possibility of having a Saturday Matinee for the show. It is felt that the appeal the show has amongst younger people might justify a matinee. What do you think? Your views will be sought.

AMP’s NEW HOME

As you know we will be rehearsing in a new venue in future, and it is hoped that the hall will meet with members’ approval. AMP did rehearse here before and it has the potential to be a venue for future social and fund raising events. All rehearsals will be held here including those on Sunday afternoons.

SPREADING THE LOAD

The committee considers it necessary for the sustainability and well being of the company that many of the duties and responsibilities that up till now have rested with a few key personnel, should be shared out amongst the general membership in future. Work has already started, and the President has been approaching several members asking if they will take on some of the tasks. Here is a list of who has agreed to do what.

Lynda Young – Distribution and collection of libs and scores and long term awards.

Jean Thom – compiling the programme

Yvonne Sharp – maximising audiences on Wed night.

Leona Reiter – members leaflet

There are other very important projects needing to be undertaken. These include setting up a new web site, facebook account, and maintaining them.

Publicity and marketing.

Setting up a computerised box office system.

Sourcing grants.

Finding a permanent home for AMP.

If you think you can help please let June Kean or a committee member know.

THE PRODUCTION TEAM

This is just s reminder of who is on the production team so far.

Artistic Director – Lindsey Spowage

Dance Director –AntonyCarter

Musical Director – Rona Topaz

Costumes – Anne MarieWoods

Stage Manager – Position vacant.

Accompanist – Eleanor Swift

AFTER SHOW PARTY TO BE TICKET ONLY IN FUTURE BUT TIME TO BE EXTENDED

The Committee feels in necessary to introduce a ticket only system for after show party goers to ensure a degree of control over just who is there. In addition to this a modest charge will be introduced to cover costs of the hall [double rates are charged aftermidnight]  and the Disco. More on this to be announced later.
